US Marketing Program

An important tourism market for Atlantic Canada is the United States.  ACTP capitalizes on potential American visitors by focusing marketing efforts on the Mid-Atlantic and Pacific States. ACTP’s American efforts build on the provincial brands through a comprehensive consumer advertising campaign, participation in trade and consumer travel tradeshows, familiarization and media tours, editorial programs and tour wholesale partnerships.

Thanks to joint efforts with provincial tourism departments, the four Atlantic Provinces were featured in several American publications in 2006 - 2009 including Audubon, Boston Globe, Coastal Living, National Geographic and Natural History. Over $34.8 million in media coverage was achieved for Atlantic Canada tourism products and destinations, well above the target of $7 million. In addition, ACTP's partnerships with select US tour operators generated more than $4.3 million in sales through an investment of $579,200.
